I feel that first off the Dominant should know something about the person they are doing this form of play with, what some of their fantasies are, what some of their fears are. What presses their buttons.
When you know some of these things about the person it makes it much easier to get into their heads to intentionally destabilise, confuse and manipulate them psychologically.
Some Dominants have the natural ability of seeping into your very psyche, connecting with you on an emotional level. They are able to take something you are extremely afraid of or something that thrilling, something you may have fantasised about and using it to control and excite you. Teasing you, taunting you, taking you to an edge.
It’s an interesting dynamic that transpires in those moments when one begins to squirm, and the Dominant knows this is how it’s suppose to be, and you don't.
As far as cautionary advice I can give is to be safe, use common sense, and be ready for the unexpected. If you mess around with someone psychologically there can always be unintended results. Mind fucks are a form of psychological edge play and it isn't for everyone. The Dominants isn't supposed to actually harm their submissive/slave or bottom. I suggest the usage of safe words in more extreme forms of this type of play.
