What is a Mentor?

One of the most important roles of a mentor is serving as a teacher to the newcomer. To me, a mentor is someone who guides, supports, advises, discusses various matters with a mentee in order to learn/enhance their knowledge.  Mentors share their body of experience, relating what they have learned in ways that will connect with the newcomer.

I am mentoring two people who when require advice, I will either direct them to sources, provide resources and/or give them my perspective on any questions they may have.

Being a mentor is a responsible role, and I take this role seriously.
